How We Feed OC
As a large regional food bank, we provide food for all who need it with a concentrated focus on our most vulnerable populations—children, working families, college students and seniors.
We purchase nutritious food and shelf-stable items—and grow a portion of our own produce—for distribution through our Partner Network, which provides food at more than 300 locations throughout Orange County. This vital network includes houses of worship, school and college pantries, afterschool programs, Permanent School Pantries, senior centers, transitional housing facilities, soup kitchens and shelters for the unhoused.
We welcome donations of food and funds from our generous donors. We also work with like-minded organizations to address the root causes of hunger, like poverty and missed educational and vocational opportunities. Together we can make life better for our entire OC community.
Feeding OC With Respect, Dignity and Compassion for All
Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County acknowledges the inherent dignity and worth of every single individual. Second Harvest is a diverse, equitable and inclusive organization that strives to provide Orange County with food and nutritional security for all. We see diversity, equity and inclusion as connected to our mission and critical to ensure the well-being of our staff, volunteers and the communities we serve. We respect and value diverse life experiences and backgrounds and work to ensure all voices are heard and feel valued.
Second Harvest treats all people equitably and compassionately to foster a sense of belonging. We are committed to a culture where everyone feels valued and respected, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation or identity, education, physical ability, neurodiversity, beliefs or other personal characteristics.
Second Harvest believes that we have a responsibility to identify systemic inequities that create barriers for people accessing food, impacting our organization’s work. We implement solutions for these barriers through a lens of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, consistent with our mission. We are committed to maintaining a fair and inclusive environment with respect and dignity for all.
Healthier Families = Healthier OC
Consistent access to nutritious food, including fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, dairy, meat and grains, plus shelf-stable items like beans, canned meat and fish, are critical to improving and maintaining the health and well-being of children and all food-insecure OC residents.
