Grocery Store to Food Pantry:
One of the ways Second Harvest Food Bank sources food is through our Grocery Rescue Program which connects local grocery stores with food pantries, providing nutritious food to families in need in Orange County.

After the great success of our Walter Melon video, we are introducing Carli Flower, a cheerful vegetable who dreams of becoming part of a special meal.

Carli Flower eagerly awaits being selected at the supermarket alongside her friends Bella Pepper, Holly Peño, Sally Squash and Chayote. Despite her optimism, days pass and no one picks her, leaving Carli questioning her worth.

When she’s finally removed from the shelf, Carli fears the worst—being discarded. However, instead of heading to the landfill, Carli and her friends are taken to a food pantry operated by Second Harvestwhere nutritious food is provided to families in need.

A young girl chooses Carli, giving her a second chance to bring joy to a family’s meal. Carli reflects on her father’s words, realizing her “crunch" does indeed make people smile—all she needed was an opportunity to shine!

If you need food today, find a local food pantry near you now.
