On a sunny Friday morning in October, a group of volunteers gather at the Anaheim United Methodist Church to package groceries for needy local seniors. A twice-monthly activity for these volunteers for over four years.

Doesn’t it feel exhilarating when you jump into your car after a long day at work, crank up the music and let the stress float away as you cruise home, for a relaxing evening meal with the family and some quality time on your comfy sofa catching up on the latest reality show?
Now imagine standing on your feet for eight hours waiting on all manner of customers. At the end of your shift, you hike several blocks, then wait a half hour before you can catch a ride. Finally, after another hour and several stops later, you reach your destination. Home at last: a 12’x12 single motel room where five family members await you to figure out dinner that night.
