Harvesting

Every year, we harvest more than 300,000 pounds of fresh produce from our Incredible Edible Park, with the help of more than 4,000 volunteers from schools, corporations, religious and community groups. The concept began with A.G. Kawamura, California’s Secretary of Food and Agriculture, and is a joint venture with the City of Irvine and a corporate landowner.
We plant, nurture and harvest broccoli, carrots, onions, strawberries, cabbage, peppers, green beans, watermelons and pumpkins. Sometimes we harvest oranges and lemons from a citrus grove.
In our Seed to Harvest program, we provide seeds and soil to schools. Children nurture the seedlings at school, plant them in the park, and return to harvest the food they’ve created. To sign up,
