Brown Bag for Seniors

Nearly 10% of the people who are at risk of going hungry every month are seniors. With rising costs for housing, transportation, and medical expenses, plus losses in retirement savings during the recession, many seniors simply don’t have money for food.

Our Brown Bag program provides two bags of groceries every two weeks to more than 3,800 seniors at 37 sites.

All sites are staffed by volunteers, many of them seniors who need the help themselves.

Last year, we opened eight new sites to serve more than 1,000 more seniors.
