Throughout the year, Second Harvest Food Bank will need volunteers to help with special events such as the Letter Carriers Food Drive, Fall Food and Wine Festival, post-convention food recoveries, Children’s Festival and others.

New Opportunities
Food Rescue
Save food and save the environment! We are looking for a volunteers (must be 18 and older) to help us recover sample foods that are left over from conventions. It is a fun, fast paced event! Teams of three-five will go through sections of the convention center recovering food, putting it on pallets, and bringing the pallets back to the Second Harvest truck
This event requires some lifting, working with pallet jacks, and other physical activity. The time involved is approximately three and a half hours (or until all food is recovered). We must move quickly as some of the food is fresh and some is frozen so it needs to get into the refrigerated truck in a short amount of time. This food has been thrown in the past so help us save this food so that we can distribute to those who are in need in Orange County. These take place at the following dates/locations:

Food Stamp Outreach Program Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers to assist on our Food Stamp Outreach Program development. Our goal with this program is that everyone who is eligible has the opportunity to apply for benefits, so they can have access to healthier diets.
