The Adopt-a-Pantry program is the newest feeding program to Second Harvest. The program matches volunteer and corporate groups with a non-profit organization in an underserved area where they can provide a direct lifeline of food assistance to Orange County’s most vulnerable population.
We fill our refrigerated Kraft Mobile Pantry truck with over 5,000 pounds of fresh produce and other grocery items. Our volunteer groups, usually a group of 12- 15 individuals (and children are welcome!), are able to provide over 200 families with food directly. The entire distribution is not possible without the volunteer group, takes only two hours, and is available Monday through Saturday.
At El Modena Community Center, during a recent Adopt-a-Pantry partnership with the Yale Club and Saddleback Church, a little girl was overheard saying to her mother, “now we can eat”.
The face of hunger in Orange County is hidden, but it is there. And we can take you there to help.
Sponsorship of a Pantry delivery for only $1,500 covers the cost of fuel and thousands of pounds of fresh food, and allows your group to be directly involved in bringing a lifeline of much-needed assistance that would literally not reach dinner tables if not for you.
